In Stitches was born in Toronto, Canada in 1977 and flourished there for
nearly 20 years. Countless stitchers learned how to be needle artists under
the expert tutelage of Danish-born owner Birthe Brinch.
When Birthe’s truelove, Charles Cacciatore, lured her to Florida in 1995 she
closed In Stitches’ doors and married Charles. But dynamo Birthe soon
realized that she couldn't just retire to Florida and abandon her art. In 1998
she opened tiny Birthe’s Needlepoint Boutique in Lake Worth. This new
venture soon outgrew its limited space and in February, 2000 Birthe’s In
Stitches Needlepoint was reborn just a few doors away.
Birthe teaches, designs, paints, finishes and frames needlepoint. From tiny
doll house chair seats to dining room carpets, from painted canvas to
charted designs, from petit point to rug canvas, Birthe does it all. She
eagerly shares her vast experience, her creative inspirations and her love of
her art with every visitor to In Stitches.
All visitors to In Stitches are welcomed as friends first and as customers
second. From novice to advanced, stitchers are encouraged to share
ideas, experiences and stitching tips. Birthe is a firm believer that every
problem has a solution and she welcomes challenges. Birthe’s philosophy is
that there are no stupid questions, only under-educated needlepointers.
